Laura and David's wedding at Hidden Meadows produced these beautiful shots of pastel umbrellas in action.

Bride Laura carried our mint green Signature Pagoda with crystal beaded trim, which matched her headband!

The bridal party had shades of green and purple, carrying our brown to green fade pagoda, moss green polka dot, lavender jewel handle, pale purple fade pagoda, and dark green to cocoa fade pagoda umbrellas.

A Very Lucky Day

If rain on one's wedding day is lucky, then snow must be even luckier. Jamilyn and Nathan had both on their December 18th wedding day in Salt Lake City, and they felt lucky to have had the foresight to have four red umbrellas from Bella Umbrella on hand.

Her bridesmaids carried a red and black print ruffle umbrella, a black and red rose print pagoda, and a solid red canopied umbrella.

Look at those sassy red shoes! This is right where a bride should be, on a pedestal.

Blue Mountain Affair

Serena's September wedding in the Blue Mountains of Virginia was quite an affair, held atop a mountain on her father's property, with no fewer than 12 attendants each for her and her groom. Each couple carried a unique vintage umbrella from Bella Umbrella.

More hats on these groomsmen! Loving this trend.

The bride carried our olive green ruffled parasol, and her bridesmaids had a rainbow of vintage umbrellas including our blue double layer floral, our Signature Pinwheel, a blue floral pagoda, a green double layer floral, a solid light blue umbrella, a pale peach ruffled umbrella, and a deep brown ruffled umbrella. We are always delighted by the way a group of completely unique umbrellas look so cohesive and stylish when carried with confidence, as rocked by these ladies!

Light showers fell on John and Tasha's September wedding at Golden Gardens here in Ballard. Luckily, they had our vintage ruffled pagoda in dark brown to get cozy underneath and stay dry. You can just barely see the rain beading up on the umbrella in this photo.

Rigolo Cafe

Doug Mathieux, the owner of the Rigolo Cafe in San Francisco, has put our Signature Pinwheel umbrella to very creative (and extensive) decorative use in his French restaurant.

The pinwheel is even incorporated into the cafe's logo!

Sean and Liz got some great pictures on their October wedding day at Gasworks Park! The bride carried a canary-yellow umbrella that brought a shot of sunshine to the overcast backdrop. The groom was dapper with his Signature Pagoda in black.

Jamie and her husband honored their family's Scottish roots at their recent wedding, and umbrellas from Bella Umbrella provided the perfect accessories. Their ringbearer got a hold of a red and black pinwheel umbrella which looked great with his traditional Scottish kilt.

We love the bride's choice of a red ruffled umbrella - a bold and beautiful contrast to traditional white!

The bridesmaids carried monochromatic pagoda umbrellas in black and white and black ruffles, or fringe-embellished black.

The end result was totally successful: a bright, vibrant color palette. Very memorable!

Rebecca and Geritt had one of the most creative themes that we've seen in a long time. Based on The Sound of Music's "These are a few of my favorite things", they used the umbrellas for the "raindrops on roses" feel.

Wedding planner, Heather at Amorology, said "We wanted to repeat the raindrop on roses feel over the cake. So we brought in more gorgeous umbrellas in the pinks, corals, reds and blues and scattered crystal raindrops on the rosepetals below."

They also made great use of our Ravishing Red Pagoda for centerpieces on the head table.

Today is exactly 1 year since Bella Umbrella opened its retail doors! It has definitely been an exciting past year here.

We've meet so many great neighbors here in Ballard and have enjoyed getting all sorts of traffic.

Getting Inspired

Ok, so I went to see Julie and Julia last night and was inspired to write again. I am not a writer by nature but a creator and dreamer. I was starting to feel like I needed to be a promoter more so than a sharer of information which is what I enjoy about reading blogs. I've tried Twitter and Facebook and neither one really appeals to me on a daily basis, I simply don't have that amount of time to be effective.

I decided that I am going to blog about what it is like to run a business and all that entails. My business in particular is very interesting to me because it is an evolution and implementation of a dream. I talk to so many people about finding that one thing that they love and then making daily decisions about how to mold one's life into that idea.

I for one need to have structure so from here on out this will be my format for this blog

So here we go;

Last week I bought another umbrella company! It consisted of a domain name, working website and inventory. The best part was going through the three BIG boxes of umbrellas that came with this purchase. Oh, how much fun that was!!! I don't know if you know this but I LOVE UMBRELLAS! They aren't necessarily the typical looking Bella Umbrellas that I currently feature but they are new prints and styles to me. There are fun flirty fashion umbrellas, kids umbrellas and the smallest, itsy bitsy collapsible umbrellas I've ever seen.

So this week I have to re-photograph all the new umbrellas and Bella Umbrellaify the new website.

Umbrellas used from left to right are 1. #505 Peach and Black Polka Dotted Ruffled umbrella. 2. #524 Green and silver striped pagoda which was recently featured in the Feb 2009 issue of Glamour Magazine. 3. The black and red one isn't on the website yet. 4. #753 Orange to Peach fade with a dark brown ruffle. 5. #1027 Ruffled black with white polka dots. 6. #78 Red pagoda.

Bella Umbrella is pleased to announce the release of our new blog, and we are certainly excited to begin sharing what's going on in the shop and online with you on a more regular basis. We will be using this space to let you know about upcoming events, online and in-shop sales, and showcase some of the ways that people are using our umbrellas.
